Digital Edge Awards – 2015 RecapDid you attend the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 2015 Annual Dinner? If you did, you would know who won our Digital Edge Awards, so don’t spoil it!
The Digital Edge Award Winners
Back in October, we began accepting nominations from individuals, nonprofits and companies from all over Vermont, that were looking to be recognized for their digital expertise. We wanted to hear from nominees about their achievements in digital marketing, website/app design and development, social media, video production and anything else in the broad category of ‘Digital Work.’ We were on the hunt to find the most successful, local nominees for our 2015 award – and we found them!
We had so many awesome nominations to choose from that we ended up giving away two awards – one to a nonprofit and one to a business. Take a look at who won and check out the videos to see their amazing work!
Nonprofit Category: BIG HEAVY WORLD
Big Heavy World is a 20-plus-year-old nonprofit built by a large group of volunteers to provide a digital infrastructure for supporting, promoting and preserving Vermont’s original music. This organization is completely staffed by volunteers, who provide valuable technical support and promotion to all kinds of musical artists through an online directory, a public listening library, an online music shop and more.
They are currently refining a virtual nightclub blimp in the Minecraft universe to stream live video of concerts to its dance floor. We are proud to recognize this nonprofit for bringing their digital expertise to the music industry in Vermont. Congratulations, Big Heavy World!
For-Profit Business Category: OXBOW
OXBOW is a Burlington-based, creative solutions firm that produces engaging content through animation, motion graphics, and strategy. Their award application detailed a recent campaign they completed for the Center for Food Safety and the video below generated 37,000 petition signatures against large popcorn companies using harmful chemicals. Just a week after the promotion’s release, Pop Weaver pledged to phase out these unsafe elements.
This local business is doing great things not only in Vermont, but also on the national scene and we are proud to recognize OXBOW!
So now that you’ve read about our 2015 winners, do you think you have what it takes to bring home the trophy in 2016? Good news! You’ve got a whole 10 months to prepare! We will begin accepting nominations for the 2016 Digital Edge Awards in October. Good luck!
James Lockridge of Big Heavy World accepts the Digital Edge Award for the Nonprofit category.
Jon Portman of OXBOW Creative accepts the Digital Edge Award for the For-Profit Business category.
